How to Choose the Best Jigsaw Puzzle Image
By the Daily Jigsaw Team · Sunday, March 22, 2026
Two puzzles with the same piece count can feel worlds apart — because the image drives the difficulty and the fun. Here's how to choose well.
Match the image to the challenge you want
- Easier: lots of distinct regions and colours — a city skyline, a colourful animal, a busy scene. Your eyes always have somewhere to start.
- Harder: big areas of one colour or repeating patterns — clear skies, water, foliage, mandalas. Great when you want a real test (see the hardest puzzles).
Think about how long you want to play
Pair the image with the right piece count. A detailed image at a high count is an evening; a clear image at 96 is a coffee break.
Pick something you love looking at
You'll be staring at this picture for a while — choose a subject that makes you happy. Browse nature, animals, food, art or space and follow your mood.
